Factors like brand recognition, historical price appreciation, critic and vintage score are just some of the things we take into consideration when selecting wines. Our goal is to help you find great bottles at an affordable price.
We make it easy to invest in wine. We handle the logistics, sourcing and management of wine portfolios. And we offer investment opportunities through our relationships with producers, merchant houses, and other investors. We work directly with vineyards, winemakers and wine sellers to source wines for below retail price and can guarantee the reliability and transparency of those bottles.
We offer full authentication of your wines before coming to our warehouse. All of your wines are stored in state of-the-art wine storage facilities around the globe. All of these facilities are bonded, so we can offer significant tax advantages with no VAT or excise duty taxes. We also extend a full insurance policy (equivalent to FDIC for wine), at market value, to protect your wines.
When you invest in Sommtrust, you have direct ownership of the underlying asset—wine. All cases are set up in your name, and we’ll even issue an ownership certificate each time a wine is purchased in your portfolio. As a result, if something happens to Sommtrust, you are the owner of the wines.
We charge a 2.7% annual fee for our Basic plan, this includes wine buying, wine fraud detection, and selling as well as active management of your portfolio. We do not charge any buying or selling fee. Sommtrust’s fee is prorated across the year based on the average balance in your account, and a portion of this is charged monthly. The minimum investment amount is $1,000.
You can log in to your account and check on the performance of your wines. We try to be as accurate as possible when looking at different sources to get the most real-world price as possible.
You can choose to liquidate your portfolio at any time. Due to the nature of this investment the process usually takes between 2-4 weeks as we have to find a buyer willing to purchase your wines.
